Özet
<p>This study is intended to conduct validation and reliability studies by adapting Middle Grades Self-Efficacy to Teach Statistics (SETS-MS) Instrument into Turkish within the framework of the Turkish Education System structure. Accordingly, 421 prospective middle grades mathematics teachers who are currently educated in five different state universities in Turkey have participated in the study. The data of the study is collected through Turkish form of the instrument. The findings toward the validation of construct of the instrument are performed through confirmatory factor analysis and findings toward its reliability are performed through analysis on the Cronbach Alpha coefficient, which evaluates the internal consistency of the instrument item, independent sample t-test based on the difference between the mean scores of the lower 27% and upper 27% groups and item-total correlations. The results of the analysis demonstrate that fit indices calculated for the two-dimensional model which is reading the data and reading between the data are fitting with the original instrument enough. The reliability of scores achieved from the instrument is determined to be enough. In line with this, Turkish adaption of the instrument is considered to be a valid and reliable instrument which can be used for examining prospective middle grades teachers’ self-efficacy to teach statistics.</p>
Abstract
<p>Bu çalışmada Ortaokul Düzeyinde İstatistiği Öğretmeye yönelik Öz yeterlik (Middle Grades Self-Efficacy to Teach Statistics- SETS-MS) Ölçeği’nin Türk Eğitim Sisteminin yapısı çerçevesinde Türkçeye uyarlanarak geçerlik ve güvenilirlik çalışmalarının yürütülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, Türkiye’deki beş farklı devlet üniversitede öğrenim görmekte olan toplamda 421 ilköğretim matematik öğretmen adayı araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri ölçeğin Türkçe çevirisinin yapıldığı form ile toplanmıştır. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliğine ilişkin bulgular doğrulayıcı faktör analizi, güvenilirliğine ilişkin bulgular ise Cronbach Alfa iç tutarlık katsayısı, %27’lik alt ve üst grup ortalamaları farkına dayalı bağımsız örneklemler için t testi ve madde toplam korelasyonu analizleri ile elde edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçları, veri okuma ve veriler arası okuma şeklindeki iki faktörlü model için hesaplanan uyum indeks değerlerinin orijinal ölçekle yeterli düzeyde uyum sağladığını ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca ölçekten elde edilen puanların güvenilirliğinin ise, yeterli düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda Türkçeye uyarlanan ölçeğin, öğretmen adaylarının ortaokul düzeyinde istatistiği öğretmeye yönelik öz yeterliklerinin incelenmesinde kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu düşünülmektedir.</p>
